While the roots of Formula One go back to the European Grand Prix championships of the 20’s and 30’s, it was only in 1946 that the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile’s (FIA’s) standardised the rules. This was followed in 1950 by the inaugural season of FIA Formula One World Championship races which remains the foremost motor racing event in the world.
The Italian Grand Prix is one of the longest running events on the Formula One calendar. Every Formula One Italian Grand Prix since 1950 has been held at Monza except in 1980, when it was held at Imola.
Michael Schumacher is the most successful race driver on this track. While the most constructor wins go to Ferrari.
