Irish band, The Script seemed to burst on to the scene with their self-titled debut album in 2008 but in truth by then the founding members, lead singer Danny O’Donoghue and childhood best friend, Mark Sheehan had already been performing and creating music together for 12 years.
They since 1996 joined boyband, Mytown in 1996, which led to them being invited to Canada and working in the US for a few years. WHen they returned to Ireland from there, they recruited guitarist, Glen Power and The Script was born.
Their first single release, We Cry, peaked at number 15. The second single, The Man Who Can’t Be Moved made it to number 2 in Ireland, the UK and Denmark. This paved the way for their first album to enter the UK and Irish album charts at number one.
By mid September 2015, The Script had released four acclaimed studio albums and gone on 5 world tours and at that point, decided to take a break for some well deserved chill time.
The band have been teasing their fifth album due to be released in September, Freedom’s Child, throughout 2016 and 2017. With that date getting closer, The Script have also announced a series of UK concert dates.
The Script Brixton – O2 Academy
Danny Donaghue calls the lead single from Freedom Child, Rain, “…a feel good summer tune.” Seems like The Script in concert, singing their songs old and new would be a pretty cool way to end summer 2017. Get your tickets for the band’s o2 Academy Brixton concert on 1st September right here.
