Hartnoll brothers, Phil and Paul from Sevenoaks in Kent, better known as the English electronic dance music duo, Orbital are baaaack!
Since announcing that they were ‘… parting ways for the final time’, back in 2014, Orbital reunited in February 2017 with an announcement of a packed summer festival programme, including the Timeshift Festival in Romania, Standon Calling in Herts, Brussels Summer Festival in (you guessed it) Brussels, Sonicmania in Japan and Beyond the Tracks in Birmingham.
There are also two concerts in December, the only two indoor Orbital shows of the year.
In a review of their performance at the recent Bluedot Festival, in Manchester, Emily Heward, of the Manchester Evening News credited Orbital with bringing electronica dance music out of the clubs and putting it in front of a mainstream audience with their groundbreaking set on Glastonbury’s Other Stage in 1994.
Back then, there was no dance music played at Glastonbury so by the time Orbital were ready to bring their acid house and big rave music to the stage, the audience were more than ready and willing to take it to heart. Since then, the brothers have split up and gone their separate ways a couple of times. Including in 2014 when they announced on their website that they were “… hanging up their iconic torch-glasses and parting ways for the final time.”
