Hat-wearing, Grammy award winning, jazz singing Gregory Porter is hitting the road in the UK for 12 shows in April, 2018.
His deep, warm baritone has been variously described as liquid honey, whiskey and honey and being mugged with a syrup sponge pudding. But even the last reviewer whose words indicate that he wishes Porter would rein back on the sentimentality a touch admits that “… no matter how velvety things get, there’s a grit in Porter’s voice that scrapes against the smoothness.”
Gregory Porter has released four studio albums; Water in 2010, Be Good in 2012, Liquid Spirit in 2013 and Take Me to the Alley in 2016. Both Liquid Spirit and Take Me to the Alley won Grammy Awards.
Gregory Porter’s vocals have also graced a number of albums and singles including Disclosure’s Holding On release in 2015.
FIREROSEFILMS teamed up with PledgeMusic to create a documentary of Gregory Porter and his music entitled Don’t Forget Your Music. Shot over four years, the documentary charts Porter’s journey to musical success. The resulting film has been screened over 400 times.
