No doubt Galway’s Pearse Stadium will be full of pretty Galway Girls on 12 and 13th of May singing along to one of Ed’s least critically acclaimed hits. No matter what the critics say though, you can’t deny that the collaboration with Irish band Boega made Galway Girl a catchy and memorable song.
Sheeran fought to get the song included on the album 2017 because at the time his record label were not so keen on the folk vibe. They were already proved wrong once when Galway Girl became the third most popular song streamed off the new album. And what’s the betting they get proved wrong again when the 26,000 capacity Pearse Stadium erupts into a rendition of Galway Girl as soon as they hear the first few bars? We’ve got goosebumps just thinking about it.
For sure this is a concert not to be missed as Ireland-loving Ed Sheeran takes to the stage in Galway.
